Privacy Policy
Inall is a personal journaling app that helps you understand your own life through a short daily conversation with an AI. This policy explains exactly what data Inall collects, what leaves your device, and what we keep. Written in plain English because privacy promises that hide behind legalese tend to break.
TL;DR
- Your journal entries, profile and history are stored on your device.
- Before Inall sends anything, the app shows you a clear disclosure and asks your permission. You agree once, up front, before your first check-in.
- When you check in, the text or audio of that check-in is sent to our backend so we can call OpenAI on your behalf and return a reply or transcription. We do not keep that text after the response is returned.
- OpenAI is the third-party AI service that processes the text and audio. Their data practices are governed by OpenAI's own policy, and content is not used to train their models by default.
- We do not sell, share, or monetize your data.
What stays on your device
Everything Inall "remembers" about you is stored locally on your iPhone in app storage:
- The name and optional profile information you enter during onboarding.
- Every daily check-in transcript and the structured fields Inall extracts from it (mood, energy, sleep, exercise, tags, summary).
- The profile notes Inall builds up over time (Health, Mind, Life, Habits, Goals).
- Your settings (reminder time and preferences).
If you uninstall Inall or use Settings → "Reset all data" or "Sign out", this data is permanently deleted from your device. If cloud sync is enabled, you can also delete your account from Settings, which permanently removes your data from our servers.
What is sent to our backend
Inall's backend is a small server we run that proxies AI calls to OpenAI. Each time Inall needs an AI response (a check-in reply, a memory question, a coaching message, a weekly review, or a voice transcription), the app sends:
- The text of the conversation, or the recorded audio file if you sent a voice note.
- A short "context" string built from your local profile and recent history so the AI can answer in a way that knows you.
The backend forwards this to OpenAI, returns the response to your phone, and does not persist the request body. Standard server logs (request time, response status, duration) may be retained for up to 30 days for operational debugging and are not used for any other purpose.
We ask first. The first time you set up Inall, the app shows a plain-English screen explaining that your check-ins are sent to OpenAI for processing, and you must tap "Agree & continue" before any data is sent. You can review this at any time in Settings → Data and Privacy.
OpenAI
We use the OpenAI API for the conversational AI and Whisper for voice transcription. Per OpenAI's API policy, content sent to the API is not used to train their models by default. OpenAI may retain API content for a limited period for abuse monitoring. Their full policy is at openai.com/policies.
Where your journal is stored
In this version, your profile and check-in entries are stored only on your device — there is no cloud account and no journal database on our servers. A future version may add optional cloud sync; if it does, this policy will be updated and you will be asked to opt in.
Wearable integrations
Apple Health, Oura, and WHOOP integrations in this app are presented as a prototype. At present they do not connect to live accounts. If real integrations are added in a future release, this section will be updated and you will be asked to grant explicit permission inside the app.
Subscriptions and payments
Inall is currently free. The app does not process payments and does not collect any payment or billing information.
Children
Inall is intended for users aged 17 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Your rights
- Access: all your data is visible inside the app (Story / Timeline).
- Delete: Settings → "Reset all data" (or "Sign out") erases everything locally. With cloud sync, account deletion is also available in Settings.
- Port: if you would like a JSON export of your data, contact us at the email below.
